Clearfield County Officials Claim Marcellus Shale Drilling Could Spark Economic Boom

CLEARFIELD, Pa. -- You don't have to look far in Clearfield County to see signs of the growing natural gas industry. Trucks carrying water to marcellus shale gas wells can be found on area roadways and wells already dot forests across the county. County officials are working to make sure the industry continues to grow. The Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation, or CCEDC, is building a facility to house energy companies. Officials said the 20,000 square foot building will be about to house around five companies. The CCEDC is also creating a new department to work with energy companies. County officials said, due to the growing marcellus shale industry, the county could experience a boom in less than two years. Copyright 2010 by WJACTV.com. All rights reserved.
